Wan Smol Bag
Vanuatu

33kW + 33kWh Battery

Background

Wan Smol Bag is a prominent non-profit community organisation in Vanuatu, committed to delivering health, education, youth empowerment, and environmental advocacy programs across the country. With multiple facilities spread across the islands, the organisation faces a significant annual energy expenditure of approximately 13 million Vatu, impacting operational sustainability.

Recognising the potential of renewable energy to support both financial relief and climate resilience, Wan Smol Bag engaged AusPac Solar to deploy a staged rollout of solar systems across multiple buildings, with each site becoming operational and demonstrating power savings before the next is installed.

Customer Pain Points & Demands
High annual energy costs threatening the sustainability of community operations
Need for reliable power in a region challenged by infrastructure instability and frequent outages
Climate vulnerability and a strong focus on reducing carbon footprint
Geographically isolated island location, requiring durable, low-maintenance systems
Interest in a phased approach — rolling out systems building by building, with performance data informing each next step
Desire for manual transfer switching for energy security during transition periods or maintenance

In a broader context, Vanuatu is impacted by climate change, economic pressures, and a dependence on fragile industries like tourism and agriculture. Access to reliable, clean power is essential for development, education, and health services.
